LEAMINGTON’s Josh Finch showed the national coaches what he is made of during a reacent England talent day.
The 15-year-old spent six hours in the company of other fighters looking to impress the England coaches in Telford.
Finch competed against eight other boxers from all over England and the session was made all the more harder as it was used by England schoolboys camp preparing for the European Championships next month.
“I was lucky enough to have walked in while Josh was beginning to spar,” said coach Edwin Cleary. “From what I observed he had just done a little bit more than hold his own.
“Right now we are waiting on the feedback and to find out if he has an England assessment. Maybe as a novice they may think him to be a little inexperienced.
“I’m confident that if it’s not now it will be sooner rather later when Josh boxes for England.”
