HOCKEY: EVERYTHING fell into place for Leamington ladies’ second team as they breezed to a 5-1 victory over Long Buckby.

Having already had a sight of goal, Leamington opened the scoring ten minutes into the match through Jeanette Lloyd and just moments later Charlie Quayle doubled their advantage before half-time.

After the break Long Buckby managed to pull a goal back to keep themselves in with a chance but conceding only seemed to galvanise Leamington who went on to score three further goals to round-off an impressive win.

First Lloyd bagged her second of the match before Sarah Gambling scored a much deserved goal having already picked up two assists and the route was completed when Kirby Harris struck home after being picked out by Ellie Musson.

There was also success for the ladies’ fourth team who also came up against Long Buckby and record an impressive 3-1 victory.

Maddie Wehby bagged a brace and a strike from Bryony Wilson secure the points for Leamington.

Leamington ladies’ third team fielded a severely depleted side due to illness and went down 3-0 at home to Edgbaston.

In the men’s section, the first team remain rooted to the foot of the Midlands Premier League after falling to a 4-1 defeat away at Bromsgrove.

There was better news however for the third team who mirrored that scoreline with an impressive 4-1 victory away at Market Drayton to move up to sixth in the league standings.
