MEMBERS of Leamington-based Cleary’s Boxing Club came face-to-face with one the most popular British boxers of all time during a recent visit to the town.

Frank Bruno is one of sports larger than life characters and enjoyed a hugely successful boxing career in the ring, which included becoming World Heavyweight Champion back in 1995.

Bruno started as a glittering amataur where he became the youngest ever Amateur British Champion at 18 before turning professional and winning 21 consecutive fights. His record stands at 40 wins and five losses.

Young boxers were invited to meet Brune (MBE) following a recent talk at Leamington’s Assembley Room venue. He posed for pictures and provided some positive advice as they all look to follow in his footsteps in the ring.
