A TRIP to London and Europe’s biggest boxcup proved to be a fruitful one for Fiztpatrick’s Gym and their trio of boxers who entered this year’s tournament.
Nick Leahy, the club’s 64kg national champion, got the Haringey Boxcup off to the perfect start with a second round stoppage.
Leahy’s younger brother Sean emulated that performance with his own second round stoppage of Powerday Hooks ABC’s Alfie Collins.
Sean then went on to claim silver after losing to Stratford’s Jason Johnson.
Next up for Fitzpatrick’s was Bella Madden who took on Claudia Wilmot-Smith.
Madden won the first round by a large margin but lost the second.
However, she dragged herself back into the fight in the third round and Madden’s coaches were stunned she was on the wrong side of a split decision.
Nick Leahy then returned to the ring for his semi-final bout against Jersey Leon’s Harry Bertram.
The performance was below-par from Leahy but he managed to get the win to secure a place in the final against Neasdon Boxing Club’s Ernest Wojcik.
He put on a fantastic display this time round to clinch the Haringey Boxcup.
