Georgina Mitchell gets Barcelona nod for Under-19 Pentathlon European Cup

PENTATHLON: WARWICK’s Georgina Mitchell has been selected for Great Britain’s pentathlon squad for the upcoming Under-19 European Cup later this month.

The 16-year-old, who currently trains at Plymouth College, is one of six girls selected for the GB team for the event which takes place in Barcelona on April 29-30.

Pentathlon GB have sent a team to the event for many years with the venue always providing a high quality competition. Following a pair of team medals last year and two relay medals in the 2016 Championships, which were held at the same venue, the crop of 2017 will be looking for further success in Catalonia.

Mitchell is currently ranked second in the UK in pentathlon and will compete alongside team captain Olivia Green, Zoe Davison, Georgina Mitchell, Zoe Gowers, Emma Whitaker and Alexandra Bousfield meaning the top five athletes on the current Pentathlon GB Under 19 girls ranking list will be competing in Spain.

Mitchell has enjoyed a solid start to the season having enjoyed victory at National Youth Ranking Competition 3 on March 1. She will be in action in the individual girl’s competition on April 29 before taking part in the mixed relay event the following day.

GB are also taking a six-team boys squad to the competition which is made up of Toby Price, George Budden, Nicholas Laws, George Case, Josh Hood and Kieran Harby.
