Green named new captain at Norton Lindsey

Leamington Editorial 23rd Jan, 2020   0

NORTON Lindsey & Wolverton Cricket Club have been busy putting the preparations in place for an action-packed 2020 season.

A changing of the guard means Conor Green is now the first team and club captain, with Dan Fell supporting him in his duties as vice captain, while Steve Rushton and Martin Hall will skipper the second and third XI respectively.

The club are vying to build on the successes of a 2019 campaign in which Norton received the Geoff Calcott Trophy, rewarded for the consistent quality of wickets, pitch condition and atmosphere by the Warwickshire Groundsman’s Association.

Three Saturday teams will compete in the Cotswold Hills Leagues this season, with the first XI in the Premier Division, the Seconds in Division Two and the Thirds in Division Six.

An investment in the practice nets and in the bowling machines will allow for better sessions for the club’s sides and junior sections – the latter continuing to be led by ECB qualified coaches.

While the outdoor cricket season is still a few months away, the indoor nets will be in use from Sunday February 9 at Warwick School between 10.30am and noon for eight weeks during the pre-season period.
