HARBURY RFC hosted their annual Mini’s rugby festival as the club continues its 60th anniversary celebrations.
The festival returned for the first time since the pandemic with a welcoming and fun atmosphere whilst team spirit was at the heart of the day with every player proudly earning and wearing a medal at the end of play.
Harbury welcomed visitors from Shipston, Rugby St Andrew’s and Berkswell and Balsall Rugby Club’s for a jam-packed afternoon of fabulous grassroots rugby.
Games were played across a variety of age groups, from under-8’s right through to under-12’s, all supported by friends, family and rugby enthusiasts alike.
Harbury Chairman Chris Woodhams said: “It’s lovely to see so many people contributing to such a fabulous day, it’s what being a rugby family is all about.
“Excellent rugby skills were witnessed across all age groups with rugby’s core values at the centre of the entire day, huge thanks to our visitors Shipston, Rugby St Andrew’s and Berkswell and Balsall.”
Harbury’s under-13 squad kept everyone in check throughout the festival with trophies and player medals awarded at the end of the day to each age group – provided by local company Spa Trophies.
The club was founded by Glen Hales in 1962 and are currently celebrating their 60th anniversary year.
Harbury settled at their current home in 1979 with the help of Life President John Bromley whilst Dave Andrews helped developed the club’s Mini/Junior section since 1984.
