CRICKET: HUNNINGHAM slipped to a second successive loss at the weekend in their Warwickshire League Division Two campaign.
The 1st XI entertained Wolvey CC at home, hoping to turn around the fortunes of their first game.
Hunningham batted first and posted a score of 201/9 from their 50 overs – helped by strong performances from Aman Kalsi, 44, and Lewis Mundy, 42.
In reply, Wolvey chased down their target with eight overs to spare – losing four wickets in the process.
The hosts failed to win key moments of the second innings and were left fighting an uphill battle.
Though the 1st XI lost, Hunningham’s 2nd XI faired much better and enjoyed an opening league win on the road – again to Wolvey CC.
Hunningham were asked to bowl first and restricted Wolvey to 156 from 45 overs. Jack Staniforth proved to be the stand out bowler with figures of 25/4.
Hunningham then chased down the target with ten overs to spare for the loss of only two wickets.
Key contributions from skipper Bird, Staniforth, Reason, and Pettifer helped Hunningham achieve their target.
