Kenilworth lose out on the road at Bronze

Leamington Editorial 6th Jun, 2016 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016   0

KENILWORTH fell to a three-wicket defeat on the road at Bronze in the Warwickshire League Division One.

The visitors were asked to bat first but opener Guy Pearson (42) was the only top order player to make any impact on the Bronze attack, as the visitors slipped to 58 for 5.

A partnership of 80 between Aussie Matt Dargan (43) and Pat Howard (27) pulled things around, but when they were dismissed the visitors were all out for 161 in the 49th over, with Palmer doing the damage for the hosts after taking 4 for 40.

The Bronze reply was soon in trouble at 8 for 2 as Kenilworth’s opening bowlers Matt Dargan (2 for 50) and the impressive Steve Rhodes (2 for 29) had the home team in trouble.

But Wood with 74 and Freeman (42) got the home side back on track. Further wickets for Tom Pope (1 for 39) and spinner Charlie Stranks (1 for 18) were not enough as the home side won the game in the 42nd over, finishing on 162 for 7 to win by three wickets.
