Kenilworth Seconds off to a winning start

KENILWORTH Seconds got the new Warwickshire County League Division Seven season off to a good start with a 59-run victory over RM CC.

Put into bat, Kenilworth openers Danny Boneham and Umer Shanker made a steady start against a good home attack.

The pair put on 38 for the first wicket, Boneham making 12 and Shanker 11.

Batting at three, Chris Prophet added 23 before Elliott Sorrell and James Adamson put on 55 for fourth wicket.




Adamson making 34 while Sorrell went on to make a fine 54, his innings having just the two fours.

Visitors Kenilworth finishing on a respectable 187-8 from their 50 overs.


Danish Shuujat (3-47) and Ameer Khan (2-19) being the most successful of RMCC’s bowling.

When the players returned from the tea interval, the opening Kenilworth bowlers Matt Casey and debutant Joe Poole soon found there line and length, both bowlers causing the home sides top order plenty of problems as RMCC slipped to 34-4.

Casey had fine figures of 2-23 off nine overs while Poole, also having a good return off nine overs, got 2-28.

Skipper Sam Leach introduced spin from both ends with the experience of Chris Beach and the youth of Tom Skinner.

Both had the home batsmen tied up in knots, as wickets fell at regular intervals.

RMCC slipped to 59-6 and look deep in trouble at 101-8.

The home side were eventually dismissed for 129 in the 36th over.

Beach finished with 2 -29 from nine overs but it was birthday boy Skinner who stole the plaudits with the ball 4-44.
