KENILWORTH slipped back to losing ways in the Warwickshire League Premier Division after slipping to a five-wicket defeat at home to Rugby.
The hosts batted first and made an impressive start with opener Chris Prophet hitting 43 and a fine stand of 89 for the fifth wicket between Neil Goodman (52) and Jorjeet Singh (56) enabled Kenilworth to reach 212 for six from their 50 overs.
Ewer was the pick of the bowlers for the visitors after taking three wickets for 52 runs.
Rugby’s reply was kept in check by Jake Sunderland who took two wickets for 48 runs and spinner Ed Ruswa also chipped in with two wickets as the visitors slipped to 104 for five.
But an unbroken stand of 111 between Ewer (72 not out) and Edwards (75 not out) won it for Rugby with eleven overs to spare as they finished on 215 for five to win by five wickets.
