Leamington Editorial 18th Oct, 2018   0

KINGSLEY School’s U16 skiing squad have been crowned English Schools’ champions for 2018.

The team of Year 10 girls, comprising of Lorenza Chapman (14, from Leamington Spa), Hannah Dennison (14, from Daventry), Emma Lawton (14, from Leamington Spa) and Lucy Sainsbury (14, from Stratford-upon-Avon) enjoyed outstanding success at the Ski Championships in Norwich.

Individually, Dennison was second and Lawton was third fastest U16 racer on the slope.

Then on the same slope the day after, Kingsley School’s open age team finished in seventh, despite being the youngest team competing.

Their performance means the team have now qualified for the 50th Anniversary of the British School’s Championships which will be held at Hillend, Edinburgh, on Sunday, November 18.

Ski team manager Alan Edwards said: “The dedication and constant improvement the girls have shown over the past years is outstanding and their success is thoroughly deserved.”

The U16 team will also be competing on snow in the British School Girls’ Championships in Flaine, France in January 2019.
