TWO runners from Leamington Cycling and Athletics Club continued their marathon preparations with excellent results at different locations in their final few weeks of build.
Natalie Bhangal travelled to Draycote Water to tackle the ten-mile race which took runners on two laps of the reservoir.
Last year Natalie finished fifth in the same event in a time of 72.25 but this time around she beat that time by over seven minutes to make it a memorable birthday celebration.
Natalie made a positive start among a field of over 150 leaders and she went on to cross the finish line in 12th position in a time of 65.42, which saw her claim third in the ladies race.
Natalie said: “This was a great way to celebrate my birthday and having my children waiting for me at the finish line was an added bonus.”
Elsewhere, following on from a positive display at the recent Coventry Half Marathon, Paul Okey travelled to Stafford for another half marathon race.
Having taken well over three minutes off his previous best time in Coventry, Paul had no expectations from Sunday’s hilly race but he still managed to take another minute off his personal best time of 85.39.
This equated to more than four seconds a mile quicker than he had ever run before as he finshed in 87th position from the 4,000 entries.
