Ben Tyler 10th Jul, 2019

FOURTEEN-YEAR-OLD Matthew Jordan competed in the National Youth Closed Circuit Cycling Championships just a day after racing in the West Midlands Series.

The Leamington rider finished fifth in Saturday’s race in Staffordshire, before taking on the challenge of the hilly course in Scarborough on Sunday.

In his second race of the weekend, Jordan reached a top speed of 43.8mph and avoided several crashes on the eight-lap-course to rank 44th overall.

Jordan, who is currently ranked 91st in the country, will look to consolidate his position of third in the West Midlands Youth Circuit Series on Saturday, when racing in the final round of the series at Tudor Grange Park in Solihull.
