THE FUTURE looks bright for Leamington Hockey Club after its junior section were nominated for the top accolade at this year’s Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire Sports Awards.
The academy is up against Coventry Tornado Basketball Club and Old Silhillians Hockey Club for the Community Club of the Year Award, which will be presented on November 12 at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry.
The shortlisting rounds off a fine year for Leamington’s academy, which saw the club’s under-10s and under-12s girls’ teams crowned champions of Warwickshire.
Both went onto represent the county at the Midlands Championships, where the under-10s finished seventh and the under-12s took third place.
“We’re thrilled to have been shortlisted for this award,” said Leamington’s junior section chair Lisa Dodd-Mayne.
“It’s real recognition of what a strong junior academy we have at Leamington and what a great year we’ve had. Fingers crossed for the awards night next month!”
The Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire Sports Awards is an annual event to celebrate outstanding sporting success and those who have made a tremendous contribution to sport in the sub region, as volunteers, administrators, coaches or athletes.
