HOCKEY: A NARROW 2-1 defeat against the University of Birmingham has hampered Leamington Ladies’ promotion hopes.

A second defeat in three days has hampered Leamington’s promotion hopes following a stuttering weekend.

Leamington lost out to Birmingham in a rearranged fixture last Thursday evening before losing 3-1 at home to Sutton Coldfield.

The double defeat – only their second and third defeats of the entire league season – sees Leamington fall to fourth place in the table.

Elsewhere in the ladies’ section, a depleted second team managed to secure a 1-1 draw at Atherstone, while the third team lost 4-1 to Coventry and North Warwickshire. It was better news for the fourth team though, as they beat Barford Tigers 2-0.

In the men’s section, it was a tough weekend for two of Leamington’s teams with the the first team losing 8-2 away at Market Drayton.

The third team lost 12-3 at home to Redditch but there was better news for the second team who comfortably beat Ashby 9-1.
