HOCKEY: THERE was cup heartache for Leamington ladies’ over 35s masters on Sunday as their run in the Investec Trophy came to an end in the quarter finals.
Leamington were beaten 4-2 at home to Timperley, putting an end to hopes that that the home side could go one better than last year’s semi final defeat.
It was also a frustrating weekend for Leamington ladies’ first team who were twice pegged back away to Lichfield.
Sarah Gambling first put Leamington ahead and Kerry Luckett restored their lead, but they couldn’t hold out and had to settle for a 2-2 draw. However, the result does mean Leamington stay second in the table with a game in hand.
The only other team in action in the women’s section was the fourth team who won 3-2 away to Coventry and North Warwickshire thanks to goals from Bryony WIlson and a double from Lucy Strange secured the win.
In the men’s section, Leamington’s first team picked up a valuable point against Wednesbury with goals from Tom Elliot and Jared Fox earned Leamington a 2-2 draw.
Elsewhere, it wasn’t such good news for the other men’s teams., with the second team losing 4-2 away to Buxton and the third team were hammered 11-0 away to Stone.
