IT PROVED to be a mixed weekend for Leamington men’s first team after giving out and receiving a hammering in the league and cup.
The weekend started positively for Leamington who recorded a 10-1 victory away at Droitwich in the league on Saturday.
Adam Carter scored a hat-trick and Alex Corrie bagged a brace for Leamington, while Dan Jones, Louis Loach, Chris Meeson, Adam Pulman and Salem Zuberi all scored one each in a comprehensive win.
However, the weekend turned sour on Sunday as Leamington crashed out of the England Hockey vase knockout, losing 8-1 at home to Boots Hockey.
Elsewhere in the men’s section there was only one other game with the third team also travelling to Droitwich where they came away with a 3-0 win.
While their was cup despair for Leamington’s men’s side, their ladies’ masters over 35s side continued their march to Lee Valley with a 5-1 win away at Wrekin.
The ladies are now just one round away from matching last year’s run to the quarter-finals.
The cup win came just 24 hours after the ladies’ 1st XI maintained their perfect start to the league season with a 4-0 win away at Cannock, which extended their lead at the top of the table to eight points as they go into an extended break over the festive period.
It was to be less positive for the ladies’ second team after they lost 3-2 away to Long Bucky with Aimee Morse and Laura Drury getting on the scoresheet.
And completing a somewhat miserable weekend of league results for the ladies’ section, the third team were thrashed 6-1 at home by Atherstone.
