Dave Edmunds smashed his way to a club record as his unbeaten 207 helped KENILWORTH earn 16 points at home to Aston in the Warwickshire League Division One

In his breathtaking and imperious innings, Edmunds despatched the ball to all parts hitting 26 boundaries and nine sixes in Kenilworth’s rain reduced innings of 45 overs.

He and skipper Chris Prophet (60) put on 162 runs for the second wicket before the home side ended on 312 for 4 as the Aston bowlers felt the onslaught from Edmunds.

Raza was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2 for 61 and Ilyas (1 for 45) also impressed for the visitors.

Undaunted, Aston set off at good speed as Iqbal 89 and Raza 51 put on 133 for the side’s first wicket.

Ansar added 28 on a day that belonged to batsmen but they fell short of the target and ended on 248 for 6.

Ed Ruswa took (3 for 75) and he was supported by Prophet (2 for 61) and Steve Rhodes (1 for 33) for Kenilworth whilst Adie Sellar held onto a brace of outfield catches.

Yet, all the plaudits belonged to Edmunds for his magnificent display of quality batting with 560 runs being scored on the day.
