OLD LEAMINGTONIANS are hoping to put last season’s relegation behind them by appointing a three new coaches ahead of the start of the 2015/16 season.

Rob Smith has taken over as new club coach having recently moved to the area to take up a teaching appointment as head of sport at Arnold Lodge school.

Smith said he was delighted to be part of such a dynamic outfit and is really looking forward to making a difference.

Smith will be joined by new forwards coach, Scott Conduit, who is combining duties with his old club Claverdon, and Rob Smith has been announced as the new club captain.

OL’s chairman, Phil Eales, reported that training is well advanced and that last week his players meeting was attended by more than 15 keen seniors and colts.

He also described the spirit in the club as ‘tremendous’ while new head coach Tony Gear took the players through his strategy in order to get off to a flying start.

Old Leamingtonians face Leicester Vipers at home in a friendly match this Saturday before the new season starts with a trip to Old Wheatleyans on September 12.
