No rest for Clearys as star trio aim for gold at London's Alexandra Palace

BOXING: SUMMER usually presents a downtime for most boxing gyms across the UK, but at Clearys preparation for upcoming events is still full on.

In the next two weeks, Clearys boxers Morgan Ansell and Jake Finch will attend a Commonwealth Youth prep camp.

The pair will train alongside the squad that will help Morgan push for her European place later this year.

Jake Finch will also be attending his first squad, training among fighters that will push his development.

On paper, Jake’s only a novice – however he’s been pushed by coaches at Clearys who now have every confidence in the promising youngster.

Coach Edwin Cleary said: “He’s already boxed the best.

“I believe at 52kg, Jake’s already one of the best – and judging by his addition I’m not the only one.”

The following weekend, Lewis Williams, Danny Quatermaine and Jake Finch will be in action in the Haringey Box Cup – Europe’s largest Boxcup at Alexandra Palace in London.

Iconic fighters including Anthony Joshua and Chris Eubank Jr have won gold at this event in the past and have used the event as a springboard in their careers.

And it seems this year could promote the next boxing talent onto the big stage.

Clearys have sent their strongest squad possible – with all boxers looking for gold.

Last season’s youth gold medalist Lewis Williams will be looking to win back-to-back gold medals.
