Old Leamingtonians in narrow defeat to Pinley

Craig Gibbons 14th Sep, 2018

OLD Leamingtonians were edged out 19-14 by Pinley in Midlands Three West (South) at the weekend.

Although OLs started brightly on Saturday, it was the visitors who seized the advantage with two tries and one conversion to take a 12-point lead into the half-time break.

After the interval OLs were once again on the front foot but it was Pinley who would claim a converted try, putting them 19-0 ahead.

Despite this, OLs did not let their heads drop and they reduced the arrears through a try from Ciaran O’Connor, with Henry Reynolds adding the extras.

O’Connor then notched his second try and Reynolds converted once more to bring OLs to within five points of the visitors.

However, Pinley survived the late onslaught to come away with the five points.

OLs travel to Shipston-on-Stour on Saturday.
