Old Leamingtonians Ladies impress at charity four-team festival

RUGBY: A CHARITY rugby festival hosted by Old Leamingtonians RFC was supported by OL Ladies at the weekend to help raise vital funds for a number of major armed forces charities.

With the festival in full swing, OL Ladies took to the field early to kick-off their first game against Camp Hill.

Lagging from the previous nights celebrations after another successful season on the field, OL Ladies slipped to defeat as Camp Hill took the win.

The second match of the day for Old Leams was against Rugby Lionesses.

Not happy with their previous defeat the OLs ladies took to the pitch with a new determination.

After a hard fought match, that determination paid off with OLs bringing in their first win of the day.

After the lunch break, OLs returned to the pitch to take on Scunthorpe RFC in their third match of the tournament.

With their heads back in the game, OLs ladies brought in their second win of the day.

OLs fourth match was against very familiar faces going up against Old Leamingtonians’ Barbarians team.

Even though the Barbarians are teammates they didn’t make it easy for OLs, putting up a fight with a strong attack and sturdy defence.

Yet OLs persevered and came away with a win that secured their place in the final against Camp Hill.

Facing a team which defeated them earlier in the day, OLs put in a significantly improved performance to win 38-0.

Tries were scored by Trenholm, Dumont, Raines, Rawbone and Vermeulen – who made four successful conversions.
