OLD Leamingtonians cemented their place at the top of the league table with a 45-24 victory over Woodrush.

The Midlands Three West (South) table-toppers stormed into the lead in the fifth minute when Oscar Heath bundled over, with Henry Reynolds kicking the extras.

Seven minutes later Ciaran O’Connor crossed the line for OLs.

Reynolds’ successful conversion stretched the lead to 14-0.

It was not long until OLs scored again, this time Felix Heath got himself on the scoresheet.

The conversion brought the score to 21-0.

Woodrush were in no mood for giving up and responded with a converted try.

However, OLs hit back as Joe Talamini crossed the whitewash.

Reynolds’ conversion made it 28-7.

Woodrush responded with a penalty but OLs wasted little time in extending their advantage as Tom Eales crashed over for an unconverted try.

After the break Talamini notched up his second try of the day to give OLs a 38-10 lead.

A battling Woodrush came back with a converted try but this spurred OLs back into action as Hugh Melhuish ran in try number seven.

The conversion brought the score to 45-17.

However, Woodrush were not done yet as they were given a seven-point penalty try to complete the scoring.

OLs travel to Alcester on Saturday.
