A NEW formed competition at Warwick Golf Club in memory of Roy Woolston was won by Paul Stallard.
Roy sadly passed away last year and the new competition was played under his favourite format – stapleford.
The winner on the day was Stallard who carded 40 points and he was closely followed by Rolly Scandrett on 38 while Rich Betteridge 37 finished third.
Cindy Woolston and her family donated a magnificent cup and laid on a buffet for the players for the competition which has now become a permanent fixture in Warwick’s calendar.
Warwick Golf Club came up against Bromsgrove on Saturday in the Secretary Shield competition, which is one of just two competitions the club play at different courses each year.
A stroke play format proved tricky on a different course for the Warwick golfers but Paul Stallard managed to finish runner-up on 74 behind winner Dave Ward (70).
