FOOTBALL: LEAMINGTON have confirmed popular defender Tom James has left the club to link up with Banbury United.
A lack of first team football prompted the former Nuneaton Town man to make the Banbury switch after making just two appearances from the bench this season for his hometown club
While admitting he was disappointed to see James depart, Brakes boss Paul Holleran said the move would be beneficial for the lively defender.
He said: “Tom’s a smashing kid who might not have got the game time that he wanted, but made a massive impact at the football club just through his personality.
“He was a massive part of the changing room, held things together and for me as a manager was really really good, especially last season.
“He might not have got the minutes but it was the little things he did, he was very well liked.
“I hope we haven’t seen the last of him. But Tom knows as much as we know that he can’t carry on with the current predicament, he needs to go and get games.
“He’s linked up with Banbury which is another good football club.
“He might have a happy and successful time there but he’s still registered with us, the door will always be open.”
