CYCLING: COVENTRY-based M.I Racing have produced two more national and regional champions, taking the club’s total to seven for the season.

Recent recruit Mark Wise, who joined Team Jewson M.I Racing last season, won his first ever national title at the National Time Trial Championships held on minor roads in the New Forest, Hampshire.

The 52-year-old, who lives in Radford Semele, has recorded some quick times over 25 and ten mile distances lately.

And his hard work paid off with the collection of his first national title.

Elsewhere Wellesbourne’s Tim Stowe, a former motocross rider, added to his already impressive list of victories when winning the Midland Mountain Bike Series, before finishing third in the national championships.

Stowe, who has suffered from multiple injuries throughout the past several seasons, has been competing for M.I Racing for 20 years – fitting training and racing inbetween running his family business.

Team owner and multi world master champion Mick Ives said: “These two riders are as different as chalk and cheese.

“Mark is fairly new to the sport and at present has concentrated on time trials.

“He improved vastly since joining, but I’m hoping he’ll try his hand at road racing next season. He has great strength, speed, and is a very good climber.

“Tim on the other hand is very experienced and has raced road and offroad.

“He has been a great team member and has used his bike handling skills to help younger members of the team.

“I am sure more championship victories are on the cards for both riders.”
