RUGBY UNION - Claverdon bounce back to beat Burbage

CLAVERDON RFC returned to winning ways with a comfortable 48-22 bonus point victory away at a spirited Burbage side.

And the visitors made the perfect start when James Gibney dove over in the corner after some qucik hands in the backs.

Burbage enjoyed lots of territory in a cagey next quarter of the game but were unable to convert their dominance into points as Claverdon ran in two quick tries before the break the highlight of which saw Sam Turrell run the length of the field and beat six defenders to score.

Claverdon extended their lead in the second period thanks to some clever kicks from fly half James Williams as wing George Redwood crossed twice and Gibney grabbed his second following a 70-metre sprint.

The teams shared the next four tries before Burbage added two more tries to secure a bonus point and add some respectability to the scoreline.

Claverdon are next in action at home to Southam on Saturday, February 4 with kick-off at 2.15pm at Ossetts Hole Lane.
