RUGBY UNION - Claverdon beaten by high-flying Manor Park

CLAVERDON RFC were beaten 33-15 by high-flying Manor Park with the visitors now winless on the road in their last five matches.

The result means Claverdon sit eighth in the Counties 2 Midlands West (South) table.

Manor Park scored the game’s first try from a quick tap penalty in the Claverdon 22 before ill-discipline from the visitors allowed the home side to score their second try in the corner.

However, Claverdon finally troubled the scoreboard with a penalty from James Williams only for Manor Park to stretch their lead with another try in the corner after several phases.

The visitors dotted down their first try through James Gibney after the winger successfully chased centre George Redwood’s clever kick through.

A cagey start to the second half ensued before Josh Dean’s yellow card was compounded by two quickfire Manor Park tries which took the game out of Claverdon’s reach.

The away side ran in a consolation try in the final few minutes after some sustained pressure on the Manor Park line.

Claverdon are next in action at home to Old Wheatleyans on Saturday, November 26 at Ossetts Hole Lane.
