YOUNGSTER Jake Rubio continued his remarkable return to karting after finishing the 2015 season in an impressive seventh place at the Honda Cadet Championship at Shenington Kart Club.
The 12-year-old was absent from the sport for three months after breaking his elbow but as he continues his return, Jake took seventh spot out of 36 riders in Shenington on Sunday.
Up until his accident, Jake was sitting in a comfortable second place and could have even improved on that position had a competed in the full season, especially after his fourth place finish in 2014.
Next year the youngster will be moving up to the junior level and he has already been test driving the new junior X30 Gold kart in preparation for the new season.
“The X30 kart is awesome & is so much faster than my cadet kart,” said Jake, who turns 13 on Friday.
“Even though my cadet kart went in access of 60mph, 2016 is going to be an exciting year for me and I’m looking forward to facing the new challenges it brings, head on.”
Jake’s dedication and passion for the sport is unquestionable and so is the support he receives from his friends and family along with local Leamington businesses TGFP Accountants, Mr Karting and The Bear in the Spa.
