CORINNE Moss made it a European Triathlon Championship debut to remember in Lisbon on Sunday after winning a silver medal in the 40-44 age category.

Bishop Itchington’s Moss took part in the standard distance race on the final day of racing, which included a 1,500m open water swim, followed by a 42km bike ride and a 10km run.

In what was only her second race over this distance, Moss was delighted to finish runner-up in her 40-44 age category as she maintain her great start to the 2016 season.

Moss has already qualified for the World Duathlon Championships and she became the first female finisher at both the Southam and Stratford Triathlons. She was the age group winner at the Phoenix triathlon at Ragley Hall and her next races is the World Championship qualifier at Rutland Water on June 18 before the British Championships in Liverpool in two months time.

Moss is coached by Dave Knight of Do3 Coaching in Kineton, and is very generously supported by local businesses The Cycle Studio, who provide her race bike as well as other equipment, and Shires Physio, who were particularly supportive with an injury three weeks before the Lisbon race.

In total Great Britain came away from Lisbon with seven gold medals, 14 silver medals and and 11 bronze medals.
