Six-wicket defeat for Kenilworth Seconds

KENILWORTH Seconds succumbed to a six-wicket defeat to Solihull Blossomfield in Warwickshire League Division Seven.

Put into bat, Kenilworth lost an early wickets at 11-1 then 35-2.

The home side’s batting struggled to make any impact on the Blossmfield bowling attack.

Batting at number five, young George Bainea made 15 before being run out.




Further wickets left Kenilworth at 74-5.

Matt Casey made 25 but was the only other batsman to reach double figures.


And the hosts were indebted to Blossomfield for getting the score to 125 all out in the 46th over with an unbelievable 54 extras in their total.

Blossomfield made a steady start in their reply.

The opening pair put on 36 for the first wicket with the second wicket falling at 38.

Another one quickly followed with the visitors at 45-3.

Kenilworth appeared to be back in the game but Blossomfield managed to stem the tide and claim a six-wicket win, finishing on 129-4 in the 40th over.

Chris Beach (2-23), Geoff Edmunds (1-11) and Joey Poole (1-30) got the wickets for Kenilworth who picked up just two points for their efforts.
