ANOTHER great turnout by Spa Striders saw plenty of personal best times recorded at the BRAT Rowheath 5km event with the ladies team finishing second and the men taking fourth spot.

This was ninth event in the Warwickshire Road Race League and the two-lap undulating course did not put off the 21 Striders who made the long midweek trip.

Susie Stannard was the first strider lady to cross the line with a new PB of 19.43 and she was closely followed by Carolyn Wilkinson in 19.48, with Fiona Edwards (20.46) and Kate Gadsby (21.25) completing the scoring for the ladies team.

Anne Hurrell used the event to continue her marathon training and finished in a personal best time of 21.45 and Sue Cox was delighted to dip under the 22-minute mark for the first time as she finished in 21.47.

There were also standout performances from Helene Wright who took over a minute of her previous best time to cross in 24.23 and Sandra Stokes beat her previous best time by a massive two minutes to finish in 25.13.

For the men, Paul Edwards was the first Strider home in a new PB time of 17.27 and he was followed over the line by Pete Soley, whose time of 17.54 was also a PB.

Andrew Grimshaw (PB of 18.02), Trevor Wilkinson (18.04), Ste Taylor (18.20) and Dan Fleming (PB of 18.34) made up the mens scoring team.

Elsewhere, Andrew Bonjour went under 19 minutes for the first time in 18.53, while Doug Rattray knocked 22 seconds of his previous best to get 22.18 and Adam Newton continued his fine form to finish the race in 22.47.
