A TOTAL of 24 Spa Striders made the short trip to Stratford to take part in the annual Summer Six road race.
Steven Taylor was the first Strider home in 36.29, which saw him claim 17th position and he was closely followed by Pete Soley (36.58) in 21st and Adam Notley (37.06) who came 24th.
Trevor Wilkinson (37.15), Dan Stannard (39.18) and Tom Gotts (39.21) made up the Men’s team who finished in third position and there were also impressive performances from the female participants too.
Carolyn Wilkinson led the Strider ladies home in 39.27 which saw her finish second overall and she won the FV45 category. Team mates Susie Stannard (39.48) and Melissa Venables (41.07) were second and third in the FV35 category and also finished as third and fourth.
Caroline Whitehouse made up the ladies team who once again took first position, while Sandra Stokes also put in a solid performance to finish in a tim eof 50.22 to claim seocnd place in the FV55 category.
The race was won by Coventry Godiva’s Toby Spencer in a time of 30 minutes and 37 seconds and the first female home was Sarah Rose (Kenilworth Runners) in a time of 37.23.
Elsewhere, Spa Striders’ Peter Schofield finished his second Triathlon Ironman at the weekend. Schofield recorded a new personal best time of 14 hours and 20 minutes at the Nottingham Outlaw event on Sunday.
And lastly, a team of 24 Spa Striders headed to Derbyshire to take part in the 24-hour Conti Thunder Run at Catton Park.
All three teams competed in the mixed 6-8 category with the Keeping it Relay team finished 11th overall out of 239 teams.
Seven Deadly Shins came 70th and The Original Scrambled Legs were 76th, with both teams managing 25 laps.
