SIX Spa Striders battled the heat to complete the May Fourth Half Marathon last Friday in the Shropshire Hills.
On Friday six Striders completed the May 4th Half Marathon in the Shropshire Hills. Claire Murphy was the first lady home and fourth overall in 2:05:27, followed by Andy Pope (2:37:26), Sandra Stokes (2:40:23), Jude Baum (2:43:08), Emma Bish (2:43:08) and Dave Lithgow (2:46:53).
On Saturday at Revenge of the Fifth Half Marathon – held on the same course – Dexter Teale was the first Strider home in 11th place in 2:10:39 followed by Matt Leydon (2:36:51) and Zoe Beale (2:50:03).
Paul and Fiona Edwards completed the Staveley 17km trail run in the Lake District in 1:26:48 and 1:51:48 respectively.
At the Birmingham 10km Simon Parsons finished in 39:18.
Steve Hession (1:35:24) and Lloyd Harriman (1:57:57) completed the Lichfield half marathon whilst Tim Beresford completed the Vancouver Half Marathon, his debut over the distance, in 1:27:19.
Andy Grimshaw finished the Liverpool Spring 10km in 39:03.
Helene Wright, Dawn Clark and Lucy Tugwell headed to the rescheduled Clumber Park Duathlon.
Wright and Clark completed the standard distance race which was a Triathlon England Championship and an ITU qualifier.
Wright came second in her age group, finishing in 2:24:54 while Clark finished in 2:32:56.
Tugwell completed the sprint distance, which was an ETU qualifier, and came fourth in her age group finishing in 1:17:56.
Temperatures continued to climb over the weekend, making for tough conditions at Milton Keynes marathon.
Juan Martin (3:31:05) and Kat Lambeth (4:32:07) completed the full marathon, as did Ellen Powell as VI guide for Maggie Bowes.
Newcomer Natalie Dellar completed the half-marathon (2:20:07).
At the Mayday 10km in Abbey Fields, organised by Kenilworth Runners, Claire Murphy took her second podium spot of the weekend, finishing as third lady.
Jo Fleming followed in fourth (1st V35).
Pete Teevan was first Strider home with Rob Egan and Doug Rattray completing the Strider contingent.
