ATHLETICS: SPA Striders were out in force at the Kenilworth Half Marathon on Sunday as star runner Chris McKeown topped the leaderboard.
The penultimate Warwickshire Road Race League event saw 38 Striders’ complete the course.
Light rain made for excellent running conditions as the route saw runners pass through Kenilworth before making their way to Haseley and Beausale before returning home.
McKeown led Striders home in a time of 1:22:12 while Pete Soley (1:23:53) and Adam Notley (1:23:54) filled in for second and third.
Other finishers that completed the course in under an-hour-and-a-half included: Neil Smith (1:24:16), Chris Liddle (1:26:02), Jamie Phillips (1:27:41), Juan Martin (1:29:11), Rob Mantell (1:29:28), Simon Parsons (1:29:56).
Elsewhere Lucy Tugwell completed the challenging Lakeland Trails Derwentwater 15km in 1:36:44 while Laura Peake celebrated her birthday with a two-minute PB at the Swindon Half Marathon (1:32:48).
Further afield, Helene Wright and Clive Parpworth ran the Port de Pollanca 5k with Clive finishing eighth overall and Helen fifth lady.
Finally Ruth Tennant, Ivor Westmore and Peter Schofield all completed the Southam Triathlon.
