Success for Striders at latest Warwickshire Road Race League fixture

ATHLETICS: SPA Striders returned from the most recent round of the Warwickshire Road Race League in Bournville with an impressive raft of new PBs.

The men’s team were led home in the 5km event by Paul Edwards (17:02) followed by Pete Soley (17:18), Chris Mckeown (18:01), and Adam Notley (18:05).

Mel Venables was once again at the front of the action in the women’s event, recording a personal best time of 19:52.

She was followed by Carolyn Wilkinson (20:34) and Bethan Gwynn, whose time of 21.10 was a new personal best.




Elsewhere Lucy Tugwell was 3rd V35 in the Clent 8km Worcestershire Midweek Series in 46:24.

Sandra Stokes finished the Dublin Rock n Roll Half Marathon in 1hr 58mins.


Striders were also well represented at the Cotswolds Classic Middle Distance Triathlon with ten Striders taking on the race in its entirety and 18 competing in the relay event.

Andrew Bonjour, on his 30th birthday, raced a new PB for the distance and finished 51st overall in a time of 4hrs 38mins 51secs.

He was followed by James Jaycock who finished in under five hours while Rob Nash and Chris McKeown followed.

Six Strider relay teams also competed with the first team coming fourth overall in 4hrs 39 mins 41secs.
