SUE Harrison continued her impressive form this season by finishing fifth in the 20km Christmas Cracker Road Race which was held around the villages of Ashorne and Moreton Morrell.
A total of four runners from Leamington Cycling & Athletics Club took part in the race alongside 200 participants, with half opting to take part in the shorter 10km race.
Harrison took fifth spot after crossing the finishing line in 80 minutes and 16 seconds. Her excellent time marked another highlight in her long career after winning her 100th Open Road Race.
Elsewhere, throughout the season Natalie Bhangal and Paul Okey have enjoyed several personal battles and in Saturday’s race it was the latter who took the honours in a time of 84.13 which secured eighth place.
Natalie never gave up and chased hard throughout to finish two places behind in 85.47, which was also enough for her to take second in the ladies race.
Also in action over the weekend was a team of runners from Spa Striders with six runners grabbing new personal bests at the Telford 10km race in what proved to be a fast and competitive race.
Will Johnson finished just inside the top 100 in a new club record time of 34.45 and he was followed in by team mates Kevin White (36.22), Tim Down (37.02), Matt Leydon (46.38) and Chris Jones (48.22).
The women grabbed two top five finishes in the V35 category with Clare Hinton (40.42) and Susie Stannard (41.06) recording new personal best times, while Fiona Ferguson also recorded her best 10km time of 41.41.
Elsewhere, in the Gloucester Cross Country League, Spa Striders were represented by Daniel Stannard who came 14th in the V40 category, while Simon Parsons finished at the 36th senior male and Daniel Flemming was 46th.
Paul Edwards finished runner-up in the 20km Christmas Cracker event, while Gary Perkins won the V60 category in the 10km race.
