Third place for David Pettifer British Masters 10,000m event

DAVID Pettifer produced an excellent performance at the British Masters 10,000m event at the Alexander Stadium on Sunday where he finished fourth in the V65 Championship.

The Kenilworth Runners star was running in the colours of his second claim club, Midland Masters Athletics Club, and he also took home the bronze medal in the Midland Championships.

Pettifer’s time of 42 minutes was slower than he was hoping for, but with little wind and the sun coming out just as the race started at noon, conditions in the stadium were extremely hot and humid, with the organisers having to set up a water station for participants.

The conditions for the first four finishers in the V65 category were much better with all four recording the fastest times across 10,000m in the UK this year. The race was won by David Oxland of Nottingham Athletics Club in 37 minutes and 45 seconds.
