Thousands of punters expected as Warwick Racecourse set to sign off a memorable 2016 in style

Leamington Editorial 15th Dec, 2016   0

THOUSANDS of punters are expected to turn out at Warwick Racecourse on New Year’s Eve as the course prepares for its most popular fixture of the season.

Over 4,000 racegoers went through the venue’s turnstiles at last year’s meeting, and with attendances on the rise throughout 2016 – and New Year’s Eve falling on a Saturday this year – another bumper crowd is expected.

The afternoon will include seven races, gates open from 10am and the first race takes place at midday.

Plenty of entertainment will also be on offer – live music, stilt walkers and a rodeo reindeer will provide amusements aside from the action on course.

Andre Klein, general manager at Warwick Racecourse, has earmarked the New Year’s Eve fixture as one he is keen to see grow in popularity and has stated it could become the course’s iconic race day.

He added: “Pre-sales have been going fantastically well and are well in front of last year.

“There is nothing better than seeing the stands at a race track packed to the rafters with people enjoying the occasion, it makes for a wonderful atmosphere.

“The event will be a great way to close what has been an incredibly successful year for everyone here.

“Our team have put on a brilliant calendar of events and we have seen all the key performance related areas grow.”

High-demand has seen some packages already sell-out for the race-day.

There is still availability for a NYE Party Package in the Paddock Pavilion, which includes a three-course meal, exclusive table, seasoned mulled wine on arrival, corporate admission, racecard and help from a tipster for £90 per person.

The Punters Package includes entry, a locally sourced pie, drink, racecard and tote bet for £27 per person.

Advanced main enclosure tickets are available for £15, with discounts for groups and early bird tickets £12.50.

Tickets bought on the day will be £20.
