TENNIS: SARA Butler claimed the top honour at the recent Warwickshire Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) Awards.
The Leamington Tennis and Squash Club player brought home the Veteran Player of the Year trophy following an outstanding season on the court.
Butler not only successfully captained the Warwickshire County Ladies over 55s team to promotion, but she also played in every single match of the summer season for Leamington Ladies to ensure they won the Coventry and District First Division title, dropping just nine sets all summer.
The veteran was also part of the four-player team that won the Aegon Mixed Vets trophy in a final that was played against Warwick Boat Club, held on grass alongside the Aegon Tournament in Birmingham.
Although there were no other winners on the night from Leamington Tennis and Squash Club, they were shortlisted in three other highly competitive categories – Club of the Year and Team of the Year, while Nick Seale was one of nine nominees in the Volunteer of the Year category.
