Versatile Bowen joins Leamington

Leamington Editorial 5th Jul, 2018   0

LEAMINGTON boss Paul Holleran has continued his squad building with the capture of the versatile James Bowen.

The 22-year-old can operate on the left side of defence or midfield and finished last season with Hereford.

Having started the season with the Bulls, who will be opponents for Leamington this season in the National League North, Bowen was snapped up by Solihull Moors in October.

However, a managerial change eventually saw him return to Edgar Street to help Peter Beadle’s side to the Southern League title.

Bowen began his career at Cheltenham Town where he made several appearances for the Robins’ first team before loan spells at Bishops Cleeve, Evesham United, Gloucester City and Hereford.

After his release from Cheltenham he spent a season at Stafford Rangers in the Northern Premier League.

‘I’m delighted to get James on board,” said Brakes boss Paul Holleran.

“Being able to get another left footed player in the squad was important.

“He is a versatile, energetic player who like the majority of our squad is still at a young age with plenty of potential.

“His delivery is good and I believe he will be a massive asset for us this season.”
