BOXING: LISA Dhesi made her own piece of history after becoming one of the first Sikh female boxers to come out of the Leamington area.
Dhesi only joined Fitzpatricks Boxing Club four months ago and her no nonsense attitude and drive has been noticed by the coaching staff.
The 23-year-old took to the ring for the first time after being fast-tracked by the coaching staff at Fitzpatricks and her first fight was against Layla Churcher (Berinsfield ABC) down in Oxford on Saturday.
Dhesi’s renowned strength and determination shone through in what was a well-matched skill bout and she came out triumphant thanks to a second round TKO.
“Lisa is a joy to train,” said coach Babs Kandola. “ She trains with a smile on her face and has been a welcome addition to our club, often training twice a day alongside our other Fitzpatricks female Bella madden.”
