TEENAGER Nick Leahy made it a debut to remember for Fitzpatrick’s ABC after beating Joe Donnelly by a unaminous decision at the Hatherley Manor Hotel in Gloucester on Saturday.

The 18-year-old came out of the blocks quickly and set a good place while managing to beat his taller opponent’s jab in the opening round and Leahy improved his performance in the second with some eye-catching work to take the second round too.

With two rounds already under his belt, the Leamington boxer came under some intense pressure from Donnelly of Hereford ABC but the 24-year-old failed to get the better of Leahy who adjusted accordingly to take all three rounds and the victory by a unanimous decision.

Leahy’s coach, Derek Fitzpatrick, said: “It was a big ask on Saturday night to take on a lad six years Nick’s senior but we are confident in Nick’s boxing ability.

“I am delighted with Nick, who is the older brother of Sean who also won two weeks ago. Both boxers will be in action again in Willenhall in two weeks time.

“As well as that, Bella Madden will be attending an all-female South of England squad in Portsmouth next Sunday.”
