HOCKEY: THE WINNING runs continues for Warwick as they extended their 100 per cent start to the 2016/17 season thanks to a narrow 1-0 victory over .

Fresh from winning 10-1 last week, Warwick began Saturday’s game full of confidence and quickly established control.

The Bridgnorth keeper executed a string of quality saves to keep Warwick at bay and the first half ended all square with neither side able to make a breakthrough.

A change in tactics and tweak of formation by coach Bryce during the break saw Warwick continue their dominance with the forwards posing a constant threat.

Ollie Hobbs got the game’s winning goal, pouncing after Pomfret’s initial shot was saved while man-of-the-match Clarke was instrumental in midfield.

Warwick fought hard to break down the half court press but they were not able to get the second or third goal that their dominance deserved.

This weekend Warwick travel to Old Hales for what will be another tight and tough game.

Elsewhere, Warwick’s fourth team tasted their first defeat of the season after losing out 5-2 against Stourport with England over-50s skipper David Knott scoring a hat-trick.

There was better news for the club’s fifth team however as they ran out 2-1 winners over Rugby & East Warwickshire.
