HORSERACING: THE NEW Year has started with a bang for Warwick Racecourse after The Jockey Club venue secured one of the longest sponsorship deals in its history.

After attracting a bumper 6,500 crowd for its annual New Year’s Eve racing fixture, the racecourse has agreed a deal with leading property law firm Feldon Dunsmore.

The new partnership will see the Coventry-based company be a major sponsor at Warwick’s final May fixture – part of the May Racing Carnival – for the next five years.

Having already sponsored races at the venue for the past two years, the property law firm is now increasing its involvement – and will sponsor the annual Feldon Dunsmore Building Legal Solutions’ Handicap Hurdle, which will take place on Thursday, May 25, later this year.

Established three years ago by former colleagues Paul Harrison and Steven Petty, the firm has undergone a series of expansions since launching – which has given owners the confidence to commit to the five-year deal.

Paul, co-founder of Feldon Dunsmore, said: “We’re delighted to have agreed a long-term deal with Warwick Racecourse and excited to put Feldon Dunsmore’s name to this race for the next five years.

“Steven and myself are both passionate about the racing industry and have been horse owners as part of a syndicate in the past.

“We’ve enjoyed building strong links with Warwick Racecourse over the last two years and we look forward to strengthening the relationship with our local racecourse over the course of this deal.”

The partnership comes amid Warwick’s ambition to be regarded as one of the best small jumps courses in the UK.

With attendances rising and links in the local community strengthening, the course has already experienced a fruitful term since new general manager Andre Klein took over.

He said: “Building strong relationships with the local business community is a key priority for us and can only help to raise the profile of Warwick further.

“We’re delighted Feldon Dunsmore has shown its faith in the work we are doing to establish Warwick as one of the top small jumps courses in the country.

“We look forward to having them with us at the second May Racing Carnival and the years to follow.”
