THE 26th Bristol Half Marathon took place on Sunday and Spa Strider Mel Venables, who is currently in training for the Abingdon Marathon next month, ran a superb time, taking several minutes off her personal best time.
She finished 20th lady (239th overall) in 1:26:08.
The Leamington Parkrun saw Spa Strider Tim Down finished sixth in 18:46. Clare Hinton was 11th lady in 25:10.
Other Strider results: David Murray (132nd) 25:44; Maria Koecher (202nd) 29:01 (PB); Sophie Lawson (263rd) 35:09.
The Midlands Road Relays took place in Sutton Park on Saturday and Spa Striders had a men and ladies’ team taking part in the Midland Road Relay Championships.
The men’s race was a six-stage event with each team member running 5.8km.
The Strider team was made up of Victor Garanto, Will Johnson, Simon Radcliffe, Dan Fleming, Dan Stannard and Hartwig Busch. They finished 61st in 2:22:04.
The ladies race was a four-stage event of 4.3km. The Strider quartet was made up of Fiona Edwards, Vicki Smith, Helen Forrest and Jo Kirby. They finished 38th in 1:16:42.
