FOOTBALL - Racing Club Warwick secure second-place finish after final day draw

RACING Club Warwick secured a second-place finish in the league following a 1-1 draw with March Town United on the final day of the season.

Warwick took the lead through Simeon Conourne’s late goal only for substitute Matt Foy to equalise for the home side four minutes from time at Robingoodfellows Lane.

And the Racers host March in the semi-finals of the United Counties League Premier Division South play-offs on Saturday, April 20 with kick-off at 3pm at Townsend Meadow.

Warwick took the lead on 74 minutes when Cobourne collected Rico Taylor’s pass before driving in from the left and powering a shot past March goalkeeper Jonah Gill.

However, the home side rescued a point on 86 minutes when Foy’s shot from distance hit the right-hand post and then the stanchion in the side netting.

Warwick play March again in the play-offs with the other semi-final between Aylestone Park and St Neots Town.
