RUNNING: REBECCA Lonergan and Josh Layton were victorious as Spa Striders hosted their annual cross country races at Newbold Comyn.
This year’s event attracted hundreds of runners from around the local area who took on the five-mile challenging course, taking in Beacon Hill, water crossing and plenty of muddy ditches.
Elsewhere, five Striders travelled to Essen in Germany to tackle the Blaumensaatlauf Half Marathon.
Paul Edwards led the team home in eighth position overall after crossing the finish line in a personal best time of 1:19.25.
Hartwig Busch (1:32.00) and Dave Lithgow (1:58.00) completed the men’s team which finished fifth out of 15, while Fiona Edwards was the fifth fastest lady in a time of 1:36.00 and Claire Westrope (1:59.59) just about dipped under the two-hour mark.
