Old Leamingtonians U18s take step closer to league and cup double

OLD Leamingtonians under-18s are just one win away from securing a league and cup double following their 58-12 home victory over Broadstreet in the Warwickshire Colts League.

OLs were slow out of the blocks but were first on the scoreboard with an early Alex Witchell penalty to make it 3-0.

Shortly afterwards a looped move in the centre allowed winger Sam Maunder to race down the flank to score out wide and stretch the lead to 8-0.

OLs were in full flow and scored another try courtesy of quick tap and several pick and goes before Thomas Wigham went over for 15-0.

Broadstreet replied with a well taken try of their own after more infringements to reduce the arrears.

Despite being reduced t0 13 men, OLs scored once again just before half time through the ever present Witchell to take a 20-7 lead.

OLs started the second half with passion and scored very early on through Kai Bailey after throwing a neat dummy close to the line.

The pack maintained their dominance and scored again through Ollie Craig to put OLs out of sight at 32-7.

Broadstreet continued to play some good rugby themselves and came up with a score from an OLs offside to make it 32-12.

Once again OLs responded, with Oscar Nagle crossing the whitewash.

Will Davies then got on the scoresheet before two more tries from Witchell secured a resounding 58-12 victory for OLs.

Victory at Kenilworth next Thursday will secure the league title for OLs.
